Beaches, the only sources of respite for millions of Istanbul residents amid rising temperatures, open today.
Dozens of beaches will be open for swimmers after cleaning work and measurement of seawater sanity levels. The Istanbul municipality operates five beaches in the city and provides lifeguard services on 38 other beaches. Menekşe, Güneş and three beaches in Caddebostan districts will host swimmers and sports activities throughout the summer.
Menekşe and Güneş, both located in the Florya district on Istanbul's European side, are among the beaches with the cleanest water for swimming in the city, which once suffered from heavy sea pollution. Menekşe is free of charge, while Güneş beach charges TL 22 ($4,87) as an entry fee
